Bruce Bowen Released By the Bucks

The veteran defensive specialist and the absolute dirtiest player in the league Bruce Bowen was released by the Milwaukee Bucks yesterday. Bowen was recently traded to the Bucks from San Antonio in the deal that brought Richard Jefferson to the Spurs. I'd bet my money on the fact that the (dirty) Bruce Bowen re-ups with the Spurs.

Lakers Officially Re-Sign Odom

The Queens native Lamar Odom has finally re-signed with the World Champion L.A. Lakers to a 3 year deal with a team option for a 4th. This teams Odom with another Queens native Ron Artest who signed a few weeks ago; the two of them have known each other for years. This is huge for L.A. who now have the most dynamic lineup in the NBA for next season.

The 2008-'09 World Champion Lakers went 65-17 during the regular season which is a tremendous achievement but this team is now better. The 2009-'10 Lakers can challenge the '95-'96 Bulls record of 72 wins if everyone stays healthy and Andrew Bynum continues to develop.

This lineup is just ridiculous:
Starters - Fisher, Kobe, Artest, Gasol, Bynum
Bench - Odom, Shannon Brown, Vujacic, Walton, Farmer, Josh Powell

Not to mention a guy named Phil Jackson will be coaching for his 11th title. Sorry LeBron & Dwight you are going to have to wait another year.

Shaq Hosting Monday Night Raw

So funny.....Shaq is absolutely the coolest basketball player ever (well at least in my time no offense to Walt "Clyde" Frazier). I hope Shaq never retires.

Some News and Notes

The Dallas Mavericks have signed free agent forward Tim "Chucker" Thomas. Thomas has all the talent in the world he just never developed into the player he could have been.

The Pacers have signed free agent point guard Earl Watson to replace the recently released Jamaal Tinsley who has yet to sign with a team and Jarrett Jack who signed with the Raptors.

The Bucks have signed their first round pick Brandon Jennings

and finally........

The swapping of Okafor for Chandler is now official.

Okafor for Chandler?

According to nba.com the Bobcats and the Hornets are in talks to swap Emeka Okafor for Tyson Chandler. The deal could be official by Tuesday and it is said that more players will be involved in the deal.

It's surprising to see the Bobcats giving up on the double, double and shot blocking machine so early in his career. Emeka Okafor is only 26 (same age as Chandler) but he was the number 2 pick in 2004. Okafor has career averages of 14.9 ppg, 11.3 rpg and 1.9 blocks per game and you trade him? Come on M.J. what are you doing?

On the other hand it is not surprising that the Hornets are going to deal Chandler. Tyson Chandler has career averages of 8.2 ppg, 9 rpg, and 1.4 blocks per game (his rebounding numbers have spiked up the past 3 seasons). They had a trade in place last season to deal Chandler but his turf toe got in the way and he failed his physical with the OKC Thunder. Tyson and CP3 were clearly upset with the move and it was puzzling why they would even do this. Chris Paul is the Hornets organization and pissing him off is dumb. However, adding Okafor would be a solid replacement for the now disgruntled Tyson Chandler, depending if he passes his physical this time.

Charlotte making a trade with the Hornets....it still sounds weird to me.
